Default 260th Kriegsmarine Artillery Battalion

The 916th Kriegsmarine Infantry will now be know as the 260th Kriegsmarine Artillery Battalion - The Salty Dogs!

Renamed for historical accuracy, the 260th Kriegsmarine Artillery Battalion replaces the 916th Kriegsmarine Infanterie in name only.

The 260th Kriegsmarine Artillery Battalion represents the elite German naval forces that manned and tenaciously defended the huge artillery fortresses above the D-Day beaches. Adept at fighting on various terrain and objectives, the 260th engages the opposing force in various ways, making a large impact on the outcome of the event.

Check out our new website for more information and the history of the actual unit!

But the 352nd German Division had 3 Regiments: 914th, 915th and 916th, and they were part of the D-Day Invasion... Why change it in first place? Do not mislead my words I think it sound Badass, and I like it, I just want to know why change 916th Regiment if was already accurate???

You're absolutely right, but last year the 916th Grenadier Regiment was changed to the 916th Kriegsmarine Infantrie. I was not part of that change, so you would have to ask those higher in the GHC why that initial change was made. All I know is GHC saw fit to have a German navy (Kriegsmarine) unit represented, but historically the 916th was an army unit and not a navy unit.

So, being the annoyingly motivated history buff I am, I found out what land based German navy unit WAS at D-Day and proposed the change to that unit designation. After doing a lot of research, that unit was the 260th Marine Artillerie Abteilung, or for our purposes, the 260th Kriegsmarine Artillery Battalion.

The 352nd is still at D-Day and very strong, so the 916th still lives on in spirit along with the 915th as part of thier parent division.

No offense but I think you guys should go back to 916th Inafantrie Regimet, 260th sounds really cool and for marketing purposes may sell better, but there is one think that sells better in D-day and specially on the units, and that is 'tradition', if you keep changing names every year you guys will lose credibibility and soldiers will not find the real love to the unit per example, people come back to their units because the input, the war-cries, the emblem and the meaning of it, people have the tendency of take pride on their shirts and if a unit keep changing name every year will lose that factor, make sense???

I think 916th German Infantrie Regiment was perfect, sounds solid and have a history behind, at the end GHC has the last word, Im just giving my 2 cents...

BTW I think your data is badass.. 206th was indeed part of the Invasion, History buffs like you make this game even better...

Take care..!!!

Well, it's not changing again any time soon if I can help it, and we are starting a new tradition. We have an emblem and a war cry we started last year, we are the Salty Dogs! We are the same Kriegsmarine unit as last year, just with a new, historically correct number.

When I say Salty, you say Dogs! Salty! Dogs! Salty! Dogs!

I dig the new designation. Salty Dogs are on the cliff above the Dogs of War...convenient! With so many units available for use might as well use some that don't sound the same as any others. You aren't going to confuse the 914th for the 260th, whereas 914th and 916th could be. Sounds like you found something you can rally the troops around and that's a good thing!
